Peugeot factory driver, Alex Wurz will switch from the French brand to Toyota for the 2012 World Endurance Championship and 24 Heures du Mans. He will head up a three driver lineup for the Japanese brand's return to Le Sarthe in June of next year.
The Austrian will be joined by fellow ex-F1 driver, Kazuki Nakajima and Nicolas Lapierre, the Team Oreca Matmut driver. Lapierre may well owe his 2012 drive to his drive with Oreca during 2011 where the team claimed the top step of the podium at the 12 Hours of Sebring and the second step at Petit Le Mans.
Oreca are working together with Toyota to mount the challenge in P1.
All three drivers are said to be working in the simulators ahead of the car's debut next year. Toyota plan to mount a limited campaign with the car in 2012 which will include the 24 Hours.
