Michael Bartels and Yelmer Burmann made a perfect weekend better by claiming victory in the Championship race, giving them pole, qualifying race and championship race top places. The #18 Vita4One BMW Z4 GT3 has claimed victory at the Slovakia Ring in the qualifying race for the FIA GT1 World Championship. The black and green BMW, driven by Michael Bartels and Yelmer Burmann, took the victory in a 1-2 from team mates, Mayr-Melnhof and Lauda.

While Formula 1 reached for its macs and umbrella's, Marc Basseng and Markus Winkelhock were busy chalking up the first World Championship win for Mercedes Benz's SLS AMG GT3. The pair took the qualifying race victory in the #38 All-Inkl.com Munnich Motorsport machine, giving the 3-pointed star a shot at the title, under glorious sunshine on Saturday. The #37 All-Inkl.com Munnich Motorsport Mercedes has joined its team mate on the GT1 World Championship winners list. Nicky Pastorelli and Thomas Jager claimed the win from the bosses #38 car to head up a Mercedes-Benz 1-2 in the Championship race at Portimao. The win rounds out a fantastic weekend for the All-Inkl.com team, who have not won in GT1 since Navarra in 2011.

BMW Takes Championship Race in Slovakia

It is the fourth race meeting and the fourth new Championship Race winner in the FIA GT1 World Championship. The Vita4One pairing of Yelmer Burmann and team owner, Michael Bartels claimed the victory by 2.951 seconds from the #1 McLaren MP4-12c GT3 of Hexis after claiming the lead in the stops.
