Allan McNish claimed the top time in final practice for the 6 Hours of Silverstone, making it advantage Ultra in the intra-Audi battle. The 1:43.628 came late in the session, during a run of fast laps by the British driver, which was ended abruptly when he clashed with the #71 AF Corse Ferrari.

The pair of Audis at Silverstone have dominated the first day of practice for the six hour World Endurance Championship round at the Northamptionshire circuit. The first session was controlled by the #1 car of Marcel Fassler, Andre Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer, the diesel hybrid outpacing Toyota's TS030 Hybrid petrol machine, who finished over two tenths of a second behind the two times Le Mans champions. Toyota wanted it, Audi got it, despite a strong showing from the previously overshadowed #8 TS030 Hybrid. The first Hybrid pole at Le Mans went to the #1 Audi R18 e-Tron Quattro of Andre Lotterer, Marcel Fassler and Benoit Treluyer. The lap came in the first hour of the last qualifying session, bettering the the time set by the #3 R18 Ultra of Dumas, Gene and Duval in the afternoon. Audi have claimed an eleventh win in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, care of the #1 Audi R18 e-Tron Quattro. The win also makes for Back to Back victories for the trio of Andre Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer and Marcel Fassler. This is only the sixth time in the 80 year history of the race that the same driver team has won back to back, only one driver team has won three races on the trot. The victory for the e-Tron Quattro led home an Audi Hybrid 1-2, with the #4 R18 Ultra rounding out a 1-2-3 for the brand. Read more: Back To Back Win Is First For Hybrid.

The dominance of Audi continued in the second Qualifying session for the 24 Heures du Mans, this time care of the R18 Ultra of Dumas, Gene and Duval. They still headed up a 1-2-3, going in #3, #1, #2 order ahead of the #8 Toyota TS030 Hybrid. Once again it fell to the Audi Sport North America car of Bonanomi, Jarvis and Rockenfeller to split the two Toyota machines.
